Chelsea coach Antonio Conte has said the departure of the team’s former Technical Director Mike Emenalo made the season difficult for the Blues.

Emenalo left the London side in November after 10 years and was an intermediary between Conte and the Chelsea board.

He is now with Monaco as Sporting Director.

When asked why the Nigerian’s departure affected the team, Conte said, “Yes.

“To lose Michael, it was a big loss for us. Yes. I think, I think so. Also because, Michael did a great job for this club for many years.

“Last season he helped me a lot during the season. This season, until he left, he helped me a lot. For me, for sure, it was a big loss.”
