It was a treat for Kop fans as Liverpool put five goals past a hapless Swansea during Tuesday’s game at Anfield.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s first goal for his new team was preceded by a brace by Firmino and a goal each by Coutinho and Alexander-Arnold.

The win consolidates the team’s place in the Premier League’s top four as the season reaches its half-way point.

The floodgate of goals was opened in the sixth minute by Phillipe Coutinho with a trademark long-range finish that curled into the top corner off a pass from Mo Salah.

Though Swansea players looked up for a good game, the game was taken beyond them in the sixth minute of the second half with Firmino firing home Coutinho’s lofted free-kick.

The third goal was a product of pure determination and grit as the young full-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold, chased down a loose clearance and smashed it into the goal.

There was no respite for the fans as just two minutes later Mo Salah cut back a pass for Firmino to score his second and the team’s fourth.

The rout was completed by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who benefited from another poor clearance.

The win puts Liverpool back in fourth place, one point ahead of Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp expressed his excitement at the win. “The last half an hour was fantastic, a joy to watch. A very deserved win,” he told the BBC Radio 5 live.
