Joshua Nominated For 2017 Sports Personality Award
British boxer and heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, is among a list of 12 sportsmen selected for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.
Joshua had a remarkable 2017, with wins against former heavyweight king Vladimir Klitschko and Carlos Takam in his title defence.
His defeat of Klitschko for the WBA, IBF and IBO world heavyweight titles at Wembley in April puts him in a good position to win the award.
Also listed for the award are nine other reigning British world champions from sports as diverse as taekwondo, speed skating and motorcycling.
But analysts believe four-time Tour de France winner, Chris Froome, Formula One champion, Lewis Hamilton, and Mo Farah are Joshua’s closest competitors.
Farah won 10,000m gold in the world championships in London.
The award will be presented in Liverpool on 17 December.
